Use this link for a full screencast modeling how to login to Finalsite. Remember to use Firefox as your browser, as this web-based tool works best in Firefox. If you do not have firefox on your computer, download it now.

Your Dashboard & Main Menus:

The dashboard is the editing center for creating pages on the school web site. The dashboard offers you tools for creating pages.

Your Homepage:

The homepage of your site is attached to your name in our school web site directory. If you have additional pages for each section you teach or if you have a blog, these pages will be linked to your homepage. The homepage serves as a welcome page and offers general information. You may choose to use your homepage as your main web site page, or create additional pages linked to the homepage.

Saving Your Work for Later:

When you save your work in Finalsite, you can always return to it later. For UNPUBLISHED pages, the page will not be broadcasted live on the web site until you publish it. If the page is already published, the edits will appear instantly.

Previewing Your Work in the Browser:

Sometimes the layout of images and text looks different in the browser window or at least different than you imagined. You can preview your work in the browser window without publishing the page. Remember that the text and images you put on your page are part of the PJA web site template, so banners and menus will surround what you create.

Publishing to the Web:

When you publish a page on Finalsite, you are broadcasting it "live." This means that outsiders can now view what you posted. Double-check your links in the "preview" screen to make sure they open. And of course, check your spelling and grammar:)

Adding Pages:

The main thing to remember about adding pages is that each new page is under the navigation of the page you have open. You should start by opening your homepage, if you want the new pages to be "children" or subpages linked to the homepage.

Password Protect Any Page:

I encourage you to password protect pages that you plan on posting images of our students. The password is created by YOU, and then you can send out an email to the parents so they know the password. Any user going to the page would then be prompted to enter a password.

Adding a Blog Page:

Adding a blog is just like adding a new page, but you select "Blog/Forum" instead of standard page. I recommend that you password protect your blog, so that you can post photos of your students freely. Make sure you know which families do not allow their students' photos online.
